Take a Walk
RIKUGIEN WALK The nearest and well maintained garden is "Rikugien"which is the most beautiful Japanese garden, literally means" Six poems garden" built around 1700 years. Rikugien is a typical example of the famous gardens of Edo Period. In the Meiji period, this garden became a second residence of the founder of Mitsubishi; Iwasaki Yataro. Later, Iwasaki family donated this garden to the Tokyo City.
In Showa 28(1953) Rikugien was designated as a special site of exceptional beauty and important cultural asset. This garden is quite spacious with central pond, islands, forest areas, Mountain area, in a sense, this garden is miniature sized Japanese landscape as well as representing of 24 Haiku seasons.
